Rihanna latest news: Fashionably late!
Rihanna was scheduled to make an appearance at Barrington High School in the Chicago suburbs after the school won a competition.
The high school gymnasium was packed with more than 2,500 tweens, mostly female, who spent their afternoon waiting for more than four hours for Rihanna to show. RiRi was originally scheduled to show at 1pm, but the time was later pushed to 2pm. But at 4:22pm, students were still waiting when Rihanna tweeted a pic saying Chicago traffic was holding her up. Must have been a hell of a traffic jam.
The teenagers grew antsy throughout the day but most stayed until Rihanna finally showed….after 5pm. Rihanna’s personal DJ was at the event well before the pop star and kept the crowd entertained with music.
Rihanna apologized to the principal for being late, but according to those at the event, she barely acknowledged her tardiness. To make up for the delay, Rihanna made a certain number of tickets available to her show that night at United Center. To some though, it wasn’t enough.

“It’s one thing to be fashionably late. This is just rude. Our lives don’t revolve around a pop star,” said junior Patricia Halle, who nicknamed the afternoon “the survive Rihanna event.”
“Our school worked hard to win this. She should be more respectful,” Halle said.
Her friend Cassie Mullay said she was thinking about leaving, having waited since 1 p.m. “It’s so rude.”
Seventh-grader Jaki Mora said: “Rihanna is pathetic. She shouldn’t be making us wait for her.”
After the whole Rihanna 777 Tour controversy maybe they should have expected it?
Although there were numerous students who were disappointed in the singer, others said it was well worth the wait to get a glimpse of the star in person.
After the charity event Rihanna tweeted to the school:
